 "Penelope... weaving history":...the greek loom

Weaving’s laboratory allows you to get close to a very old art, which used to be an important part of the daily life of Greek women, as evidenced in the vascular scenes, literary works and mythological stories.

During the lab’s session, participants will learn how to weave "Penelope’s shroud" by working on a loom based on the greek model, pictured on vases of that time.

Moreover, being able to use a small loom, the participans can weave a small bracelet and eventually take it in memory of the experience.

It will also be shown how the ancient Hellenes used to dress; with the help of our staff, the participants can reproduce the everyday life that the ancient Greeks used to live daily.
