AGRIGENTO ARKEOPARK
Program
Sunday
Arrival in Sicily and transfer from airport to hotel.

Monday
Morning: Visit to the archaeological and landscaping park of Agrigento's Valley of the temples.
​
We will admire the ruins of the park walking by Juno's temple, Concordia's, Hercules's, the ruins of Zeus's Temple, Castor and Pollux till arriving to Kolimbetra's garden and its splendid landscape that characterize the ancient Akragas.
​
Lunch: picnic with sicilian typical products in the picnic area of Kolymbetra, among orange grooves of ancient Akragas's Eden where still today water still flows from the Feacei ducts.
​
Pomeriggio: clay lab held by Agrigento Arkeopark.
Following meditation and yoga session at Donari's hill, near the sacred trees, with a sight of Dioscuri's temple.
​
Return to the hotel.
Martedì
Full Day: Visit to the small town of Sant'Angelo Muxaro, in the heart of Sicani mountains.
​
We will walk through the archaeological area characterized by the splendid tholos style tombs, dug in the southern slope of the mount in which the town has been built.
The visit will be accompanied by the tale of myth, history, archeology, traditions and the landscape description full of spontaneous vegetation and olive trees, pistachio and typical agriculture of the area..
The visit extendeds in the recent excavation areas of the tombs and in the sector to grotticella, which characterize a high rocky wall not far from the most famous necropolis. (Possibility of trekking more or less long, depending on the needs of the group)..

Return in town, visit of the small archaeological museum containing the findings of the excavation in Sant'Angelo and chance of eating through the streets of the town with freshly picked/made local products.
Wednesday
Morning: Guided excursion to the archaeological site of Eraclea Minoa with its beautiful greek theater craved out of the natural white rock of Capo Bianco promontory, at the feet of the mouth of Platani's river.

Lunch: "At the home of..." with typical dishes of sicilian home restaurant.
​
Pomeriggio: a walk at the beach with with the marvelous sunshine on the natural reserve of Torre Salsa (or Stair of the Turks depending on the time/weather).
Free time for meditation and yoga.
​
Return to the hotel.
Giovedì
Full Day: Natural excursion along the shoreline, from Punta Bianca to the Castle of Palma di Montechiaro, with a great sight of Mediterranean sea.
​
Lunch bag in the nature (not provided by the guides).
​
Visit to Palma di montechiaro, town of Tomasi di Lampedusa and The Leopard: from the mother church to the Benedettine's convent and visit to Ducal palace.
​
Return to the hotel and free time for meditation and yoga.
Venerdì
Mattina: Visit to the Ellenistic-Roman quarter and the area of San Biagio: the temple of Demeter trasformed into the medieval church of San Biagio, rocky sanctuary, the walls of the town, Porta I and II, marvelous natural and landscaping route among the olive trees along the the east side of the ancient town.

Lunch break
​
Afternoon: mosaic lab held by Agrigento Arkeopark.
​
Return to the hotel and dinner with folk music and show.
Sabato
Mattina: Strolling in our city.
​
Guided visit of the historic center of Agrigento, the Hill of Girgenti, San Gerlando Cathedral and its bell tower, Church of Santa Maria dei Greci, which is built above the ruins of the Doric temple dedicated to Athena, the elegant Via Atenea with noble palaces, the Arab streets, the churches, the monastery of the sisters of the Holy Spirit with its church, which is decorated with splendid eighteenth-century stucco work that have been made by Giacomo Serpotta and his school, and the Theater "Luigi Pirandello".
​
Pranzo: Tasting of local products, the Santo Spirito Sisters's sweet cous-cous, cannolis, almond milk and grattatella (sicilian granita variety).
​
Afternoon: Free time for shopping or rest.
Sunday
A relaxing awakening, with a rich breakfast before the transfer to the airport.
